Purveyors of Fine Motoring & Good Company. Since 2019, Takona has stood for two things: a love of cars, whatever you drive, and the people you meet because of them. Plenty of lasting friendships start with a conversation over a bonnet at a car meet. Keeping those conversations going, including the harder ones about mental health, is why Takona exists.
The No. 12 edition carries a number shared by two cars that wear the Takona logo. The first is BUY 1, Grant Williams' Jaguar Mk1, which runs as number 12. It raced in the 1959 British Saloon Car Championship as a Roy Salvadori and John Coombs entry, was bought by Grant's grandfather Gordon in 1962, and has since carried Grant to more than ten Goodwood Revival podiums, including St Mary's Trophy wins with Derek Bell.
The second is the BMW E36 that friends of Takona race under the Takona Racing Division name at Race of Remembrance, the 12-hour endurance race at Anglesey. The team is made up of former military personnel, automotive business owners and race mechanics, and the car runs a Rothmans-style livery with ITS OK TO TLK across the wings. Its 2025 race summed up what this jacket stands for. Five weeks out, the original car was written off in testing and a replacement was built against the clock. In the night session, contact at Rocket cracked a cast steel trailing arm that couldn't be welded. The only spare was five hours away, so it was relayed across the country and arrived at 3am. The team were back in the paddock at 5am fitting it, and the car rejoined on Sunday morning and fought on to the flag, finishing ahead of the MX-5 that had hit it. Pushing on, staying present and turning up for the people around you: that's the No. 12.
The canvas chore jacket is built for the work behind weekends like that one. It's cut from 470gsm cotton duck canvas, the same heavy cloth long used for workwear, so it takes oil, grit and weather in its stride, whether you're under a car in the workshop or fitting parts in the paddock at 5am. It's unlined, with a relaxed fit that leaves room for a hoodie underneath on colder days, and it follows the pattern of 1960s motorsport team crew kit, with embroidery on the left chest and the No. 12 Racing Division print across the back.
